The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music

After years of entertaining the idea—and turning down a few “easy” shortcuts—I finally sat down to write this book myself, in my own hand. The joy I’ve found in putting these stories to paper is like hearing a freshly recorded song for the first time, or rediscovering an old journal entry that takes you right back to where it all began.

This isn’t a retirement announcement, but rather a chance to shine a light on what it’s been like to grow up as a kid from Springfield, Virginia, and live out the wild dreams I had as a young musician. From hitting the road with Scream at 18, to my years with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, from jamming with Iggy Pop and playing at the Academy Awards, to dancing with AC/DC and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drumming for Tom Petty, meeting Sir Paul McCartney at Royal Albert Hall, sharing bedtime stories with Joan Jett, and a chance encounter with Little Richard—the list of unforgettable moments goes on.
